Drivern Technology is a ride-hailing company that cares about drivers – especially women drivers – and empowers partner drivers through The Drivers Cooperative. Drivers make more on each trip, some of our profits are channeled to assisting drivers with low interest rate car financing through the cooperative. Drivers have democratic control over the decisions that affect their lives.

 Our mission is to end unfair conditions in the for-hire vehicle industry through systematic change– putting drivers in the driver’s seat of the platform economy. Change is urgently needed. In Zambia as everywhere else in the world, our competitors operate by taking advantage of the partner driver workforce. They push drivers into poverty by taking a commission of up to 30% on each trip and introduce many burdens such as sign-up fees and monthly subscription charges. Drivers are financially penalized for some questionable reasons like picking the same customer on consecutive trips or days. Our competitors put the risk of doing business onto partner drivers, and often treat them as slaves and hardly ever hold meetings with drivers to hear their driver concerns Independent of this crisis, most drivers don't even own the cars they drive, a reflection of Zambia’s deep wealth gap and the unequal structure of the ride-share platform economy.
